Technology is anything created by humans to make our lives easier. Technology allows me to be more productive, it takes the work out of a lot of everyday tasks and allows for much easier communication with others, neater work and saved time. As well as those practical reasons, I enjoy working with technology in my free time just for fun, with technology I am able to pursue a number of different hobbies and improve my artistic skills beyond what I could do with more traditional methods.
I built my first website, a Warrior Cats roleplay made on Webs, at the age of eleven, the same year I was first introduced the flash and began to create digital art. My websites and digital art skills grew together and now, over five years later, I am able to use a variety of programs and am learning some design code so I can manipulate templates more and possibly create an appearance for a website made completely on my own.
I have made a number of two to five minute long animate videos for my websites, the most recent of which was completed in August. Over the summer I created one large, detailed drawing each week, alternating between digital and traditional. As well as this, I carried a sketchbook around with me to draw in whenever I had a spare moment out of the house, in order to work on my drawing skills and have seen a big improvement in the quality of my work from this time last year to now.
I can use Flash and Photoshop very well and hope to improve my skills in AfterEffects, as well as experiment with traditional animation and stop motion this year in Animation II. I look forward to having more freedom with my projects and working in a group to make even bigger, more detailed and complex projects than I could make on my own. As I work on this, I hope to be able to learn more tricks for programs I already know how to use and get quicker using them.
