I decided to do a flight sim game because at the time it sounded like a simple idea that would be easy to make and be a great introduction into the blender game engine. Sadly i was wrong, but it turned out to be a pretty nice game. The only problem that really shows in the finished product is the health bar not showing up. I spent about 2 and a half hours trying to fix it with nothing to show. Either way it is still a fun game.
All in all it was about 30 hours of work. A half hour durring my off period, an hour durring PST, and some work at home.
Difficulty: Harder than expected. (But i learned a lot!)
To start off i made my jet. I used a picture of an F-14 for reference.
Then i went through the process of programming how you controll the Jet and how the jet reacts to its surroundings.
Next i made a simple enemy that slowly follows and shoots at you.
Then i started making the surroundings for the game to take place it. The fisheye picture of the sky was supprisingly difficult to find.
After that i make an ocean with islands popping out to give the ground variety.
After i finished with lvl 1 i did the same for lvl 2.
After that i made a snazzy health bar to show you how close you are to exploding.
Then i had to make the win, lose, and intro screens.
After that i jumped through countless hoops trying to export the game a an executable file. Then i loaded it onto a filehost site to make it available at school.
